In this course, we’ll explore powerful texts that reflect the voices, values, and experiences of communities around the world. By reading deeply and thinking critically, we’ll uncover both the unique and universal aspects of human life. Our goal is to use literature as a bridge—connecting people across cultures, encouraging empathy, and sparking meaningful discussion. Together, we’ll examine how stories shape identity, challenge assumptions, and bring people together. This class invites you to read not just with your mind, but with curiosity and openness to the world around you.

Each virtual workshop aims to:

  1. Introduce students to at least three different global worldviews or cultural perspectives.

  2. Facilitate student-led discussions or projects that reflect on the concept of “the single story” and cultural bias.

  3. Encourage each class to create a final project (e.g., story, artwork, or presentation) demonstrating their understanding of global citizenship and diverse perspectives.

Themes We Will Cover
